After you click on "Save" and name your animation, a new window, like the one on the right, automatically pops up to help you compress it. |
This one is set to the best quality image. Since the rocking horse is small, I can probably get away with it. If it were fancier, I would have to lower the little bar to the smaller file size. When you have decided how much to compress it, click on "Next". |
A new window will pop up showing you the optimization progression.
When all the lines are filled in, press "Next". |
You will see a window with your animation rocking. The left side shows it unoptimized (uncompressed), the right shows it as it will be.
If you are happy with it, click "Next". If you are not, click "Back" and choose a higher quality setting by moving the little rectangle on the slider toward "Better Image Quality" and away from, "Smaller File Size".
In our case here, we went for the best quality image to begin with, so we just have to live with it. Sometimes you get little white lines around your images. It looks ok on a light background, but not so hot on a dark one. For now, we will just live with it. |
This tells you the final size of your image in bytes. It also tells you how fast the image will load on a web page at certain modem speeds. If you are happy with it, click "Finish". If not, click "Back" and play with it till you have the right combination of speed and quality to suit yourself! Hey, is this power or what? :) As for me, I am finished. The final image looks the the ones below. As you can see, even though it is a transparent animation, it is better used on lighter backgrounds. |
